Verses 16-19.

As you listened to these things that the Lord hates did you notice that each one is a declaration of independence? That is exactly what they are. “I can solve that problem!” “I can rectify that situation!” And God says that He hates these things, why is that? Because instead of depending upon God we are depending upon ourselves, we are independent of God and that truly is just pride and its many manifestations in our lives!

Now do we really need to pay attention to these things? You better believe we do. If God hates these things, if they are detestable to Him, then we need to pay attention and stay clear of them.
