Proverbs 23

Verse 9, Don’t waste your breath on fools. For they will despise the wisest advice. In other words, I am not to waste my breath speaking to a fool; I am not to waste my time because they are not going to listen to me. And the reality is, a fool is someone who refuses to heed the Word of God and I can waste a lot of time going nowhere with a person like this. Along those same lines, Jesus said in Matthew 7:6, “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.” The pearls are God’s holy truth, the wild dogs and filthy swine are those that refuse to listen and obey God’s truth. I must discern what to say and who to say it to. If some people refuse to hear, then I am to shake off the dust from my feet and move on, don’t cast pearls before swine. They are not interested in the wisdom of God!
