In March 2020 a huge research project called SETI@home shut down after two decades of work. SETI, stands for the Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence which is an organization that processes noisy signals from space for signs of intelligence.
The SETI@home project outsourced the computing power for processing this noise to anyone with an internet connection, using home computers to help process large amounts of raw data. What exactly were they looking for? Coded messages. Not anything sophisticated, just basic pulsed signals such as regular repeating blips. They would consider any simple pattern as indication of intelligence. In two decades they found nothing.1
The irony here is that if you applied the same rationale to the created world around us, you would find much more than basic blips communicating intelligence. There is a sophisticated language1 keeping our bodies alive that is so complex even scientists have a hard time understanding it.
It is the DNA molecule. DNA is found in nearly every cell in our bodies. The alphabet of its code consists of only four letters: A, C, T and G. Does that mean it’s simple? Not at all!
Unlike the English language, the language of DNA is read both forwards and backwards, with different instructions commonly overlapping each other, even in reverse. Think about that. The DNA language is meaningful in four different directions!
That means a “sentence” of DNA can contain more than four times the data than a sentence written in our alphabet and more recent research shows it’s even more than that!
What is even more amazing is that DNA is the only ‘computer’ on earth where its hardware is also its software that even error checks itself. Amazing!
Now tell me, which is harder to believe: that the DNA molecule was made randomly by chance or carefully designed by a higher intelligence? I have to agree with Dr. Werner Gitt when he says, “There is no known natural law through which matter can give rise to information.”
There is a double standard being applied here by the atheist in the search for intelligent life. Fortunately, they need to look no further than within themselves.
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well (Psalm 139:14).”
