One of the favorite activities of the summer at RMCC is Camp for a Day! Established in 2010 as a opportunity for the whole church family to get together, Camp for a Day continues to be a highly anticipated event!

Our theme verse this year was

He (Christ, the head) makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.’          Ephesians 4:16 NLT

Our goal was to encourage the whole body to work and play together in love!

This year Camp for a Day was held at River Cove along the Elbow River in beautiful Kananaskis country. 12 families camped for the weekend, and were joined by many of the church family for Saturday’s activities. A family friendly hike led by Frank and Donna started the day. Lunch time brought some super worship and sweet sharing by Paul and Cheryl.  Afternoon was for hanging out, playing team games, competing in races chatting or even snoozing!

Human foosball was a big success! Thanks to Pastor Dan for organising the games! Maureen lined up some fun games and races for the little ones. They loved the prizes too!

Pastor Colin’s annual soccer match brings out the big guns! Amazing talent and enthusiasm. It is great to see the kids playing alongside adults of all ages!

Throughout the day, each and every one at camp added their own special pieces to the puzzle. Old and young alike, everyone worked together to complete the puzzle. This was a great practical, visual reminder of our theme verse. What a blessing it is to be part of this family!

Supper was fantastic – always a team effort for sure! RMCC provided the burgers, dogs and drinks.. and all who joined in brought amazing salads and desserts to share! Special thanks to our chefs this year, Kevin, Jody and Eric! Wanda, Linda, Lynne provided great service to all during the meal… and our clean up team of Gord, Jim, Cathy and many others made quick work of loading the trailer! Thanks to Pastor Stan and to Gord for collecting all the supplies needed for camp and hauling them back to the church! And thanks to all those others who pitched in – many hands indeed made light work!

The evening began with a warm and wonderful worship time led by the Perry family. What a blessing they are to us! Pastor Blair encouraged us with a reminder that Jesus is enough! Jesus is all we need. Jesus is missing piece in people’s lives.

You can see that many, many parts of our family indeed worked together! Thank you to all who did their own special part!  Our puzzle was completed, and Camp for a Day once again was blessed by the Lord! Great fun, fellowship, family time! Thank you Lord!

Check out these great pics of the day! Thanks to Curtis and others for recording our fun!
