A Step of Faith

My life started at the NICU of Foothills Hospital, with cocaine in my system and a hole in my heart. My biological mother had been entrapped in sexual exploitation from childhood. She could not care for me, so she placed me in foster care with a loving Christian family.

In my home growing up, we fostered babies who had a similar situation as mine, and my mum also worked with women who have been affected by human trafficking. This gave me the opportunity to interact with these women alongside my mum. It gave me an understanding of the fact that no little girl wakes up and decides to go into sexual exploitation.

Now, I have the opportunity to go on a 6-month-long mission trip with YWAM (Youth With A Mission). I’ll be equipped in Las Vegas to go to the frontlines in India, Africa, Asia, or Europe, rescuing orphaned, sexually exploited children.

A verse the Lord has put on my heart is: “God Himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee He has given us His Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 5:5, NLT).”

I am currently fundraising for my trip costs, praying, and preparing my heart for this journey that will begin in less than a month. I leave for Las Vegas on January 9, 2023, and I begin training on January 11.

My heart and goal is to help children in Calgary who have been trapped in sexual exploitation. I had previously planned to go to post-secondary school for a social work diploma, but I feel strongly that God is calling me on this mission with YWAM. So I am obeying His call.

Please pray for me and for the individuals I’ll be meeting over the course of my trip.

“Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to Him (Psalm 128:1, NIV).”
